What do you want to be remembered for?

February 17, 2011 by Zach Evans

A while ago I was challenged in a Wednesday night Bible class at Harpeth Hills to talk about what I hoped would be said as a eulogy at my own funeral. As I listened to my fellow classmates talk about their own hopes (all very admirable) I was struggling to come up with one of my own that was more than just a repeat of what I had already heard.

When it was my turn a picture of my three boys popped in to my head and I knew what I wanted to be remembered for. It was more than just being a good person. It was more than being a leader in my church and my community. It was more than being blessed with many years of marriage to Mandy. What I wanted to be remembered for was raising Godly men. I believe that God had placed this goal on my heart because it encompasses so many of the other ideas expressed around me.

That is my daily prayer. That I be given the wisdom, perseverance, and guidance necessary to raise three Godly men. I truly feel that there’s not a better goal for my life. What’s yours?
